Hi there! I am glad that you took this step towards your mental health journey.

I am Tenzin Dolma, working as a counseling psychologist under supervision. I hold a Masters in psychology and have experience working with neurodivergent children. My therapy lens is guided by principles of Narrative therapy which seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counseling and community work which centres people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. There are various principles which inform narrative ways of working, but two particularly very significant are always maintaining a stance of curiosity, and always asking questions to which I genuinely do not know the answers. 

I work with teens and adults within the age group of 13- 45 and take cases related to interpersonal relationships, systemic violence, suicide and self harm, grief and trauma.

After our first session, I hope for the clients to take away a sense of feeling heard, understood, and safe and if the client is coming into therapy for the first time in general, then I also make sure to spend some time in understanding their expectations from the process and my capacity to fulfill them.
