Previously, Ajay worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Educational and Social Studies, Bengaluru. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Research Associate at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, during which he was associated with a national level project on Gifted Education for six years. Over the years, he has engaged in conducting field and classroom studies, conducting teacher training workshops and workshops for children, counselling parents and children, data mining and analysis. He has also worked as a visiting lecturer at Narayana Hrudayala, where he taught psychology for bachelor's students.
